Edvard Munch: The Final Scream
Ustinov College, Durham University
8th March 2012, 7.30pm
Followed by "meet-the artist" wine and finger buffet reception.
I am giving an illustrated talk in Durham for students and alumni of Ustinov College about the tortured life of Edvard Munch and my plans for The Screaming House. The talk is part of my research trip to the North East and precedes investigations and meetings concerned with bringing the project to fruition. Anyone interested in attending this talk should email me for information.
What they said:
on Shakespeare - The Plays in Art
at The Wallace Collection, 1st November 2011:
A brilliant lecture - dazzling.
Genevieve Fox, The Daily Telegraph
It was wonderful to see the lecture theatre so buzzy!
Anne Fay, Head of Education, The Wallace Collection
I loved the lecture - the Presentation, the Content, the Delivery - fantastic.
Rachael Watson-Smyth
Masterful - in terms of lecturing, right at the top
Professor Robert Fox
(History of Science, Oxford University)
l think Alan is one of the most creative people I know. I thought his delivery was so slick. I was so pleased to talk to him briefly afterwards and to hear of his forthcoming ventures which with any luck will produce at least two more lectures! I came away with my mind buzzing.
Caroline Benge
Alan's talk was so well put together - I liked the way he grouped the pictures and told us the background. And how relaxed he was!! It really was a triumph.
Jenny Harper-Jones
I was riveted by Alan's talk. Not only very interesting, but it opened up all sorts of "ideas avenues" for my antique mind.
Patricia Sedgwick
I thought the synopsis of The Tempest at the start was the best précis of the play I have ever heard in my life - and all done "off the cuff"!
Christopher Van Kampen
I have given talks at many important venues including Compton Verney, Oxford University, The Shakespeare Institute and The Wallace Collection.
Please if you would like to book me as a speaker.
